Graham Windham School for Intensive Learning
The Graham-Windham school for intensive learning, located on Hastings-on-Hudson in New York, called for an imaginative yet contextual addition and expansion of the existing learning campus. The idea for the addition was inspired by the free ideas of Henry David Thoreau's Walden, the Waldorf School learning environment and the Settlement House idea. The goal was to combine a rural/individual and urban/group environment. In order to maintain function of the school during construction, the project was built around a series of construction phases, each with their own challenges.
